Welcome to the Watership Down Webring The Watership Down Webring was launched back in 1998, as a ring to link together as many Watership Related sites as possible. Since that time, new sites have come and some have gone (look in the Graveyard), but the ring always remained there. Sadly, it was abandoned sometime in 2001, with the original ring site disappearing soon afterwards. When Webring put up abandoned rings for adoption in October 2002, I took over the running of it. Since then it's been a bit of a rush to get a new site set up devoted to the ring, and the wonderful sites belonging to her members. I hope you all like it. Ring News - 9/12/2008 It's been a long time since I last updated this website, so I'd best bring you uptodate with things if you've somehow stumbled upon here. The Watership Down Webring was originally founded many years back on a website called webring.org. This was bought up by Yahoo for a while, before oddly being re-released back into a demerged company. Despite being promised better things after this, they soon took webring.com to the ground. All management of the rings on their site was ripped from users, being assigned to bots for several years whilst they set about building Webring 2.0. What this basically means is that the whole concept of linking one site to another was thrown out in favour of text voting, forums and basically doing anything to drive you to their site. What does all this mean for the Watership Down Webring though? Well I have no control of the management over there, and they've now decided to auction rings off to whoever will pay them the most cash. As I want to create a proper way to link the Watership Community on the net and not just fatten some company's wallet, starting 2009 I will be running the webring completely independently from that company, as they've shown they have no interest in their original goal. I will be sending word round to everyone about this by email, but unfortunately it may mean some loss of some of the very old members I cant reach anymore. I'll do my best to make sure they can always be found though, and I ask for the support of the whole community in keeping Watership Down on the net into 2009 and beyond! ~ Entei-rah
